When I saw the grain sack ribbon with blue stripes
in Ann's shop, Sutton Place Designs,
the wheels in my head started turning.
In consultation with Ann, she agreed that the ribbon
would make great tiebacks for my curtains
in my newly painted family room.
But she warned me about the difficulty
of tying a bow using a grain sack ribbon.
All the while I'm thinking...how hard can it really be?
Well let me tell you...Ann was right, it's very HARD!
I won't tell you how long I wrestled
with that ribbon until I got it to look like a bow!
This is not a task for the faint of heart.
In fact you might even want to first have several cups of coffee...or
something even stronger...and clear your calendar so you're not in a hurry.
But I have to say, in the end it was worth all the effort.
I love the punch it adds to these curtains...especially
with spring on its way.
Come to think of it...
I don't think these babies are ever coming off
no matter what the season.
So, Ann, how did I do?
Have a great day!
Mary Alice

ReplyDeleteLooks good, Mary Alice.
ReplyDeleteThose look great and you crack me up!
ReplyDeleteI think I'd... 1. Have a sign hanging next to the bows telling people not to touch the bows or... 2. Threaten everyone who enters not to touch the bows! They do look so beautiful!

Your bows are perfect! I know getting them just right is tricky but you did a really good job. Even the stripes are even on the bunny ears.
ReplyDeleteLove the grain sack ribbon and it was so worth the "hassle" as they are beautiful with your drapes!...isn't Ann wonderful?...
ReplyDeleteI love the grain sack ribbon! I never would have thought to use it like that, but it's just the perfect touch. It always seems to be the projects that seem easy that take the most time!

You bow looks beautiful and effortless (even though clearly it wasn't). It's the perfect finishing touch. Thanks for sharing at DIYbyDesign.

Absolutely love the tie backs. I would love to do this in my bedroom with my white curtains!! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteYou did good!! I love the way they look!
ReplyDeleteBrings you right back to kindergarten, doesn't it? The ribbon ties in nicely with your curtains and you get an A+ on your bows.
ReplyDeleteLet the sunshine in!
They sure look pretty butg I never would have guessed the ribbon would be so difficult to work with eitehr. Maybe you should stick a pin through the back of each to keep the bow tied, just in case. LOL! If I hear screaming, I'll know somebody untied your bow! Hugs, Leena
ReplyDeleteThose bows look good enough to pin and that's what I'm doing! Just love what you have done with that room.
ReplyDeleteMeravigliose immagini piene di fascino!
ReplyDeleteBellalullo
You did a beautiful job with those, very inspiring!
ReplyDeleteThat is too funny Mary Alice. They look pretty.
ReplyDeleteLove the bows and the curtains, too! May I ask what kind of fabric your curtains are and where you purchased them? Thanks.
ReplyDeleteHi Gina,
DeleteThe curtains are a soft linen and I purchased them from Country Curtains. Depending where you live, they have a number of brick and mortar shops. Otherwise they can be ordered online.
I love the texture of them, and because they're lined they have a nice body to them.
Mary Alice
